Behind the Lens: Wedding Photography in Mystic Falls, Covington, GA

For couples who love the world of The Vampire Diaries, there’s something special about taking wedding or personal portraits in the real life Mystic Falls. Downtown Covington has that nostalgic, small town romance that feels straight out of a scene. Last October, we photographed Jahaira and Ramon’s portraits in the square, and recently revisited the area to go on the Vampire Diaries tour! It reminded us why it’s such a cinematic backdrop.

Jahaira & Ramon’s Wedding Portraits in Covington Square – Past

When we arrived we started taking photos in the middle of the square. We used the backdrops of the clock tower and the benches to add depth to the photos.

We then made our way around to the Mystic Grill, where we had more creativity to pull from!

Revisiting Mystic Falls and the Vampire Diaries Filming Locations

Zack and I scheduled a Vampire Diaries Tour for 1pm on a Tuesday in late February. We were able to take a bunch of photos on the tour. Some locations, we stopped at were the iconic Lockwood Mansion, Elena’s House, Carolina’s House, and other places from the show!

Why Covington Square Is Perfect for Photos

We couldn’t resist bringing our cameras along and stepping behind the lens ourselves for a moment. So after the Vampire Diaries Tour was over, we actually went to the square and did a photo session of each other! Downtown Covington has this effortless charm that makes every corner feel cinematic. From quiet benches tucked along the sidewalks to the historic buildings surrounding the square, it’s easy to see why it’s such a beautiful place for portraits. While exploring, we captured a few fun photos around some of the spots couples love most, including the area near Mystic Grill and the iconic clocktower that overlooks the square. Even just walking around with a camera, you start to notice how many little backdrops there are for stunning photos.

Ate at Mystic Grill to end our day!

After portraits, we went to the Mystic Grill to eat and enjoy some Vampire themed Cocktails! When we finished eating our lovely server…. Oops I meant when we finished eating, our lovely server took us up to the rooftop for a photo. The rooftop was actually closed still because it was still late winter, and was still too cold for people to dine up there.
